  • Examples of this would be to use lower resolution photos (if included) or remove the images altogether.
  • You can even do something like running one publication item for each of your parental lines (maternal side vs. paternal side).
  • Limiting your item to a certain number of ancestors and descendants can also be helpful.
  • Charts in the poster layout allow you to drag the person nodes around the chart area. Where real estate is a factor, this can allow you to reduce the number of inches/pages for the chart manually.

Sharing a Family Tree

  • Once signed into the ancestry account.
  • Click the Trees tab on the top left and select a tree.
  • Once the tree comes up on the screen.
  • In the top-right corner of your tree, click Share.
  • Share your tree via email, click Email or Username; to get a link you can share, click Shareable Link.
  • You enter the recipient’s email address or username. The invitation will be delivered via email.
  • If you get a shareable link, you will need to create a new invite link for each person you share your tree with.
  • However, if You are sending an email, enter the recipient’s email address or username into the field. If you are sending a link, skip this step.
  • Invite multiple people at once by clicking the green Add another email/user button.
  • In the Role menu, choose which role you want the person to have.

     Guest:-

Guests can view and add comments to a family tree. Guests cannot automatically view living people.

     Contributor:-

Contributors can view and add comments, photos, and stories to a family tree. They cannot remove content or edit existing tree content, and they cannot automatically view living people.

     Editor:-

Editors can view and add people, records, comments, photos, and stories to a family tree. They can also remove and edit existing content. Editors can automatically view living people.

  • If you are sending an email, click the Include a private message field on the right to add a message. If you are sending a link, click Create link.
  • Email the invitation, and click Send Invites. If you are sending a link, click the Copy link.
  • If you are sending an email, the recipient will receive an email with the subject “Come see our family tree on Ancestry.”
  • Whether they click a button from the invitation email or click your link, if they have an Ancestry account and are logged in to it, the link in the invitation will take them to your tree.
  •  If they are not logged in to an account, the link will take them to a free account creation page.
  • Once they accept your invitation, your tree will appear under the Trees menu in their account.

All individuals in your new FTM tree will match the same individuals in the FamilySearch Family Tree.

Firstly, make sure you log in to FamilySearch in FTM 2019

  • Click the Plan button on the main toolbar to open the Plan workspace.
  • On the New Tree tab, click Download a Tree from FamilySearch.
  • Set a home person for the new FTM tree.
  • Select Me if you want the home person to be you (the FamilySearch person associated with the account you are logging in in Family Tree Maker), or select Person ID and then enter the relevant FamilySearch Person ID if you want it to be someone else.
  • In the Number of ancestor generations and Number of descendant generations fields, specify generations of ancestors. And descendants of the home person will be included in your new tree.
  •  If you want to include the descendants of each ancestor as well, make sure they include ancestors’ descendants selected and enter a number in the Generations of descendants to include field.

For example, if you choose

  • Generation of descendants, the immediate children of each ancestor includes.
  • Choosing generations of descendants will include the children and grandchildren of each ancestor.
  • If you want to include only ancestors in a direct ascending line from the home person, leave the choice unselected.
  • If necessary, change the tree file’s name in the New tree name field.
  • By default, your tree file will be save to a Family Tree Maker folder found in your Documents folder.
  • If you want to save the tree file to another folder, Click File Location.
  • Click Continue.
