 Frequently Asked Questions

  1. You can quickly see the best available discounted price for an upgrade to FTM 2024 by just clicking here.

Q2. Can I download FTM 2024 alone, or will I also need to purchase a USB or DVD?

A: The USB and backup DVD are optional add-ons, so they are not necessary, but they are handy if you plan to install from physical media or want to have them handy so you can quickly reinstall them later if required.  Additionally, please note that the USB drive has approximately 14 GB of free space for storing files and transferring data.

Q3. When will the USB drives and DVDs for FTM 2024 be shipped?

A: Production starts the day after it is released, and by the end of this month, or “May 2025,” we anticipate shipping from our facilities in the US, UK, and Australia.

Q4. Where can I download the Family Tree Maker Connect app on my phone?

A: Family Tree Maker Connect 2.0 is now accessible on both iOS and Android.   You can use the Family Tree Maker Connect App to find out more.   You can download it directly from the iOS App Store by clicking here, or you can click here to find it on Google Play.

Q5. Is a printed version of the Companion Guide for FTM 2024 also available, and will an updated version be released as well?

A: Definitely, yes!  A completely updated Companion Guide for FTM 2024 is now available for pre-order. To proceed to the FTM 2024 Update Center, you will need to obtain the download links.  Additionally, you can purchase a copy via the Gift Collection on the www.familytreemaker.com website if you’d like.

Q6. When will the printed FTM 2024 Companion Guide be available?

A: We plan to press during the week of the release in the US, UK, and Australia. Following that, we anticipate shipping it globally in June 2025.

Q7. So, why did it take so long to be released?

A: To start, you should be aware that we created FTM 2024, which was a far more ambitious project than we had ever imagined.  We were estimating the construction of our new Connect workspace, which makes it easy to recruit family members to assist with your family history research and fact-check your story.  However, our estimations were “by a country mile” off.   Our commitment to never ship a product until it is fully finished resulted in a later release than we had initially planned.

 PLUGINS AND FAMILY PACKS

Q9.  Is a Family Pack license necessary?

A: Only in the event that a) your home has multiple computers AND b) your home has multiple FTM 2024 users.   For example, you do not require a Family Pack license if you are the only user of FTM 2024 in your home and can use it on both your desktop and laptop.

Q10.  I already possess a “Family Pack” license for an earlier version of Family Tree Maker.   Now that FTM 2024 has been updated, will I need to purchase a new one?

A: If you wish to install and use the FTM 2024 software on each computer in your house, then a Family Pack license is necessary.

Q11. Have Family Book Creator and Charting Companion been updated to accommodate the recently released FTM 2024?

A: FTM 2024, the most recent version of Family Book Creator 2019, is unquestionably compatible.  If you are having trouble using the plugin, you should first click “Check for Updates” in “FBC 2019” from the “Help” menu. Then, you should follow the instructions on the screen.

FTM 2024 is supported by the most recent version of Charting Companion 8.   For more information and to address frequently asked questions, please click here if you encounter any issues with the plugin.
